Windows Update: "The page failed to load"
I am using WSUS 2.0 (SP1) in our business and my one and only Vista machine (Business) was setup and getting updates from the central internal server fine. Late last week I tried to check updates by manually running "Windows Updates" on the client. I immediately and consistently get a blank page other than "The page failed to load." When I check "Computers" in WSUS, it shows the "Last Status Report" date and "Last Contacted" date for this client as of this morning so there is some level of connectivity happening. WSUS currently shows two updates ready to be installed (Windows Defender definitions and an "Update for Windows" Vista KB). Any ideas why Windows Update is having this problem? Thanks, Jon

Same problem here with Vista Ultimate OEM. All of a sudden have the updates icon in lower right hand corner waiting to install, but try and install and get "This Page Failed to Load". After restarts etc...same problem. Tried it from the start menu and same result.

Strangely, I've seen this same message in'windows' other than Windows Update since posting this initial message. Plus I am finding that, after at day or so, Windows Explorer windows go black (not blank) if the width of the window is wider than an inch or so. I have to reboot the computer in order to get Windows Explorer to display correctly again and this also tends to fix the "page failed to load" problem. While I do have a wide variety of programs installed on this machine, I don't feel I have any exotic or unusual programs installed. This is the primary IT machine in the business and also has Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005 tools installed. I have Windows Defender and Symantec Corporate AV (latest Vista-compatible version). I'm using Office 2007. I'm wondering, however, about the ATI Catalyst Control Center (ccc.exe). I've seen a few comments indicating others have issues with it and, since I am having a display issue, wonder if this is the source of my problems. Thanks for any input. Jon

I am wondering if its not the .net framework updates that had to be installed with a Sony Vegas Platinum install that I did. After that install, it required .net updates and the problem began. Did you also install any of these features?

I don't know of any .NET updates I've done. Vista already has .NET Framework 3.0 and, other than WIndows Updates, haven't really touched the OS and the Framework. Jon
